THREE WINS IN A ROW FOR U OF T

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team claimed a straight sets win over the RMC Paladins on Saturday (Jan. 31) in Kingston.

Set scores in the match were 25-20, 25-16, 25-14.

The win marked a third straight victory for the Varsity Blues and 11th on the season. Now sitting at 11-5, U of T ranks fourth in the OUA standings.

11 different Varsity Blues took to the court in the Saturday afternoon showdown, with Toronto having four players reach double-digit points in the win. U of T was led by a 19 point effort from second-year standout Julia Liu. The commerce major tallied 17 kills, one service ace and one solo block. The trio of middles Marie Boulerice and Thea Ziesmann, along with outside hitter Olivia Zhu all registered 10 points each. First-year setters Marina Gustke and Louisa Cassidy registered 26 and 10 assists, while third-year libero Delaney Watson recorded 13 digs.

For the Paladins, Eve Smith delivered a team-high 12 points with nine kills and three solo blocks.

The Blues now return to Goldring Centre where they will close out the regular season with four consecutive matches on home court. First challenging Queen's, the old rivals will see first serve on Friday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for all U of T home games are available on varsityblues.ca/tickets, and all Varsity Blues volleyball home games are streamed on oua.tv.
