The No. 6 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's volleyball team claimed a 3-1 victory over the RMC Paladins on Friday (Jan. 30) night in Kingston.
Set scores in the match were 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-22.
The Paladins showed up to play in front of their home crowd, giving the Blues a tough battle through the four-set contest. After dropping the first set to the home side, Toronto was able to bounce back and take momentum throughout the remainder of the road outing in Kingston. U of T was buoyed by an efficient attack that finished with 12 more kills than the opposition on a .322 hitting percentage.
Leading the charge was fifth-year outside hitter Maxime Gratton who surpassed the 20-point mark with 15 kills, one service ace and a game-high five solo blocks. Fellow fifth-year outside hitter Hunter Arulpragasam added 16 points from 14 kills, one ace and one solo block.
Guiding the Blues offence was fourth-year setter Michael Hickey who surpassed 40 total assists for a fifth straight game finishing with 43 in the win. Both Arulpragasam and Hickey also led Toronto in digs with nine apiece.
Delivering a strong performance for the Paladins, Tommy Roussel tallied a team-high 19 points with 17 kills and two service aces.
With the victory the Blues extend their current win streak to nine straight and remain undefeated in 2026. The last loss for Toronto dates to Nov. 15, 2025 – marking over two full months without losing a match and only dropping only seven total sets across the nine consecutive wins. The Blues sit alone atop the OUA standings with a 14-1 record overall.
Toronto and RMC are back in action tomorrow (Jan. 31) afternoon with first serve in Kingston set for 3:30 p.m. Following the second road outing in Kingston, the Blues will return to Goldring Centre to have their final four regular season matches on home court inside the Kimel Family Field House.
