The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team traveled to Ottawa to battle the Carleton Ravens on Friday (Jan 16) evening, finishing with a 56-34 loss.

Despite overall poor shooting from the field offensively, U of T were menaces defensively, forcing Carleton into 27 turnovers, including a team total of 20 steals by the Varsity Blues. Though the Blues kept attempting to close the deficit, drawing to within eight points late in the third quarter, the Ravens size was ultimately too much to handle, and Carleton pulled away with the win.

Toronto was led by second-year guard Lia Barbieri with 11 points, five steals and three rebounds. Fourth-year forward Janet Enge contributed an efficient 11 points and three rebounds, and fourth-year guard Faith Joseph notched a game-high six steals. Second-year centre Zi Yang Wang crashed the boards to end with 13 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass.

Carleton was led by Jacqueline Urban with 15 points, shooting 58 percent from the field, and six rebounds. Tyanne Matosas-Adderley also notched 11 points and nine rebounds.
