Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

BLUES TAKE A STEP BACK IN ROAD LOSS VERSUS NO. 7 RAVENS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball braved a winter storm to take on the No. 7 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens in Ottawa on Friday (Jan 16) evening, dropping an 80-50 decision.

While Carleton came out blazing in the first quarter shooting over 55 percent from the field, Toronto applied terrific defensive pressure in the second to keep pace with the perennial powerhouse. The Blues shot 40 percent in the frame, beating Carleton in second-chance points to keep the Ravens close heading into the halftime break. However, Carleton opened on a 6-0 run to start the second half, and spurred on by the home crowd would eventually pull away with the win.

The Blues were led by fourth-year guard Nathan Bureau with 11 points, shooting 57 percent from the field. A moment to remember for the Oakville, Ont., native, Bureau's first basket of the night also marked the first time the guard has scored in over two years due to injuries. Fourth-year forward Nigel Hylton ended the night with nine points and six rebounds, and second-year guard Rohan Scott-Smith added eight points and five rebounds.

Carleton was led by Aubrey Dorey-Havens with a game-high 21 points. Emanuel Ngo Kana Suzama notched 14 points and nine rebounds.

Up next, the Blues conclude their back-to-back road games as they take on the No. 8 Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday (Jan 17) afternoon, with tip-off set for 5 p.m. The game will be streamed live an on-demand on oua.tv.
