NO. 5 BLUES FALL TO RIDGEBACKS

The No. 5 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Sunday (Sept. 21) afternoon at Varsity Stadium.

With the loss, the Blues record falls to 5-1-1 on the season but remain at the top of the OUA East.
U of T fell behind in the sixth minute when Ridgebacks midfielder Imran Abdulatif opened the scoring. Despite the Blues generating quality scoring chances they trailed 1-0 at halftime.

In the 60th minute the Ridgebacks extended their lead with forward Christian Keshishian scoring his fourth goal of the season. The Blues got back into the game in the 74th minute when first-year defender Jordy Sindjui Sibopa cut the Ridgebacks' lead in half.

Toronto's comeback attempt fell short with a 90th minute goal from midfielder Alex Maadanian regained a two goal lead for Ontario Tech as U of T suffered their first loss of the 2025 season.

Second-year goalkeeper Filip Zendelek made five saves.

The Blues will be back in action on Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon at Varsity Stadium when they host the Nipissing Lakers. Kick off is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. with tickets available at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be live streamed on oua.tv.
