The No. 7 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team defeated the RMC Paladins 9-0 on Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon in Kingston, Ont.
Second-year midfielder Niklas Hallam led the way for the Blues offensively. The kinesiology student finished the match with four goals.
U of T's offence got going early with a Hallam goal in the fourth minute of the match. In the eighth minute, first-year forward Gianluca Scutri socred his first of two goals in the match to double the lead. Two minutes later, first-year midfielder Colin Pate added another goal for the Blue and White. First-year defender Cedric Ngounou's 23
rd minute goal gave U of T a 4-0 advantage that they brought into halftime.
Toronto's offence continued to showcase its skills throughout the second half. Hallam scored a hat trick in the second half. Meanwhile, second-year midfielder Jacob Prested added a goal in the 52
nd minute and Scutri netted his second goal of the match in the 89
th minute.
The Blues defence was also on display, giving up just one shot on target which was stopped by first-year goaltender Charles Donvito, earning him a clean sheet.
The Blues next game is against the No. 6 nationally ranked TMU Bold in a U SPORTS Top 10 matchup at Varsity Stadium on Friday (Sept. 19) night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. with tickets available at
