University of Toronto Varsity Blues rowing alumna Alina Dumas captured gold at the 2025 World Rowing Cup in Varese, Italy this past weekend.
Competing as a member of Brazil's PR3 Mixed Coxed Four crew, Dumas helped in a more than three second victory in the event final over the silver medalists from USA and host Italians in third. Brazil's gold medal time of 7:03.45 earned the top step of the podium, with the US clocking in at 7:06.85 and Italy crossing in 7:16.05.
Dumas has previously competed with the Brazil PR3 crew at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France last summer. At the international showcase in Paris, Brazil reached the B-final of the event and placed eighth overall.
A graduate of the chemistry and genetics program at U of T, Dumas competed with the Varsity Blues rowing team during the 2016 season. In addition, she also competed with the U of T mountain biking team in 2015.
