MEN'S RESULTS
The U of T men earned seven medals on Day 2, earning four silvers and three bronze through the seven events completed on Friday night.
Â
In the first men's event of the night the Blues picked up two medals as first-year swimmer Albert Bouley earned a silver medal and fourth-year freestyle specialist Liam Weaver earned the bronze in the highlt competitive 50m freestyle. Bouley finished with a time of 21.84, while Weaver clocked in at 21.89 to represent the Blues on the podium.
Â
In the men's 200m breaststroke, the 2025 OUA male rookie of the year Nathan Thomas earned a national silver medal completing the race with a time of 2:09.10.
Â
In the 400m freestyle third-year swimmer Quinn Matteis earned his first of two medals on the night with a time of 3:51.12 to narrowly edge out McGill's Artiom Volodin to earn the bronze medal.
"I love the outside lane - love surprising people from it," said Matteis. "A nice out-touch always feels good on the podium."
Â
U of T earned another two medals in the 100m backstroke, with Andrew Herman clocking in at 51.49 to earn the silver medal, while third-year swimmer Ben Loewen picked up bronze with a time of 52.85.
Â
To cap off a strong performance from the men's team, the Blues men's swimmers sent the U of T crowd into a frenzy as they earned a silver medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay with a time of 7:16.24.
"I knew I could do something big on it and bringing the team to second place is awesome," said Matteis, who was the anchor for the Blues in the relay.
"I think our men can hang on to the silver medal position with a good day tomorrow," said MacDonald ahead of the final day of competition on Saturday.
Â
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Varsity Blues women's swimming team added two more medals to their total medal haul on Day 2 of the U SPORTS Championships. Third-year medley specialist Nina Mollin earned her second gold medal of the U SPORTS Championships, defending her 200m IM national gold from a season ago. Swimming in a time of 2:13.46, the 2025 OUA female swimmer of the year earned her ninth career medal and seventh gold at the U SPORTS championships.
Â
Also reaching the podium, third-year swimmer Teagan Vander Leek's time of 25.27 in the women's 50m freestyle allowed her to claim the silver medal, her first individual medal at the U SPORTS Championships in her career. As well, the silver marked her second medal of the 2025 event this week after helping the women's team earn bronze in the 4x100m freestyle relay on Day 1.
