The University of Toronto Varsity Blues figure skating team claimed overall silver on Wednesday (Mar. 5) at the 2025 OUA Figure Skating Championship, hosted by Toronto Metropolitan University inside the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
The provincial medal marks a ninth consecutive season the Blues have finished on the overall podium, matching their effort of a second-place finish from a year ago. Toronto earned 98 total points during the two-day provincial showcase, capturing 11 total medals, including five golds. Western defended their championship, capturing the overall team title for a third straight season with 103 total points. Meanwhile, Guelph rounded out the overall podium with 60 points earning them the bronze.
Each adding more individual medals to their career totals, both third-year standout Gabriella Guo and fifth-year veteran Hugo Li were once again exceptional performers for the Blues at the 2025 edition of the provincial championship. Together the pair took gold in the Senior Pair Freeskate, before joining teammates Lara Zeldovich and Victoria Bocknek for bronze in the Fours Freeskate. Guo added another gold medal in the Novice Short Program, while Li grabbed gold with partner Katelyn Pavlidis in the Star 8-9 Dance and silver in the Open Men's Freeskate.
Following her performance in the Fours Freeskate on Day 1, Bocknek also captured another one of the five gold medals for U of T, winning the Gold Freeskate event. Also earning multiple medals, Erin Ng and Nina Xuan teamed up for silver in the Open Rhythm Dance, before joining Celina Guo and Bridget le Donne for a silver in the Dance Fours event. Xuan also grabbed another silver in the Gold Solo Dance. Rounding out the gold medal performances from the OUA championship, Olivia Pulsifer and Nicole Chan achieved the top result in the Couples Artistic category, while U of T team came together for bronze in the Synchro event.
