The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team traveled to Algoma University on Friday (Nov. 21) night , earning an impressive 65-37 win over the Thunderbirds.
Â
The Blues played 40 minutes of near-perfect defence, racking up 17 steals and forcing nearly 30 turnovers. This stifling defence forced the Thunderbirds to shoot just 23.4 percent across the first half, allowing U of T to build what would be an insurmountable lead. The Blues bench played a significant role in tonight's victory, putting up 45 of the 65 total points, while 10 total Blues registered a field goal in the dominating win.
Â
The Blues were led by second-year guard Diana Comsa with 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Also in double-figures was first-year guard Cady Su with 10 points and three assists. Meanwhile, third-year guard Faith Joseph was a menace defensively grabbing seven steals, as well as chipping in five points and four assists offensively. All three came into the game off the bench for Toronto, displaying the complete team effort.
Â
Leading Algoma was Sadie Grawbarger with a game-high 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
