The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell xx-xx to the McMaster Marauders on Saturday (Oct. 25) night in Hamilton.
Through the four quarters of action, U of T were successful in creating second chance opportunities for themselves, outrebounding the Marauders 17-7 on the offensive glass. However, the stellar defensive performance the Blues showcased the night prior did not carry over into the second game in as many days. The Blues limited the Marauders offence at the perimeter, but in the paint the home side was able to finish the night shooting over 50 percent.
The Blues were led by third-year forward Simeon Jeffers who finished with a game-high 24 points, adding five rebounds, one assist and two steals to round out his stat line for the night. Making the most of his 17 minutes off the bench, first-year guard Mikey Ballout chipped in with 12 points, including three field goals from behind the three-point arc.
McMaster saw four players reach double-digits in the win, highlighted by a 10 point and 19 rebound double-double from Ares Culley-Bremner.
Toronto will look to rebound on home court as they begin a four-game homestand with a Saturday, Nov. 1 showdown with the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Tip-off from the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tickets for Varsity Blues home games are available at
