JOSEPH BREAKS U SPORTS RECORD AT OTTAWA

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team dropped their season finale 23-16 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday, October 18 at Gee-Gees Field.

The Gee-Gees exploded for 16-points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

However, it was third-year Varsity Blues receiver Chris Joseph who continued to etch his name into the record books. The Richmond, B.C., native broke Laurier's Kurleigh Gittens Jr.'s 2017 U SPORTS record for most receptions in a single season. Joseph made 10 catches for 91 yards on the day, ending the 2025 season with 77 receptions to surpass Gittens record of 75.

Fourth-year pivot Scott Barnett went 24-for-35 for 314 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing five times for 38 yards. Joseph was his favourite target on the day, but he also connected with Thomas Roberts seven times for 165 yards, and fifth-year veteran Jake Oseen six times for 66 yards and one touchdown in his last game as a Varsity Blue.

Veteran linebacker Elia Lini led all players with 8.5 tackles, one sack and one break up, while Luca Pante had four tackles and three breakups in the loss.
