MEN'S BASKETBALL COMPLETES PRESEASON ROAD TRIP IN QUEBEC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team completed a three-game preseason road trip to Quebec, facing off with Laval, Bishop's and UQAM.

First challenging the Rouge et Or, U of T fell by a score of 91-86 versus the RSEQ opponent. In the solid road effort, second-year centre Lucas Prekovic led all Blues with 20 points, primarily delivering with outside shooting as he went 6-for-7 from behind the three-point line. Fellow fourth-year centre Nigel Hylton add 15 points, while third-year forward Simeon Jeffers tallied 14 to round out U of T's top three scorers versus Laval.

Next facing the Gaiters, Toronto saw 11 different players touch the court in a 78-62 loss. This time Jeffers provided 25 points in 38 minutes of action to lead the team offensively. Prekovic continued an efficient weekend going 4-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line to finish with 12 points. He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Blues finished with a 99-88 defeat versus the Citadins on Saturday (Oct. 11). Despite scoring over 20 points in three of four quarters, U of T found it tough to slow down the offence of the opposition. Jeffers once again led the attack for Toronto posting a game-high 26 points, along with 14 rebounds for a double-double. Second-year guard Michael Reiss added 16 points and five assists, while second-year centre Panashe Dumbu chipped in with 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks off the bench.

Toronto will host one final exhibition contest next Friday (Oct. 17), welcoming McGill to the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m., with tickets available at varsityblues.ca/tickets.
