BLUES SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues softball team went 1-1 with the York Lions on Friday, September 27.
 
York 5, Toronto 3
 
Toronto fought back after falling down by five runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though.
 
Joely Ma took the loss for Varsity Blues. The righty went four innings, surrendering one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Julia Lacaria led things off in the circle for Varsity Blues. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking three.
 
Shirley Chan, Lauren Howorth, and Tala Rennie each drove in one run for Varsity Blues.
 
Toronto 4, York 3

 
The Varsity Blues tied the game up in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. U of T tied the game at three on a single by Zoe Goldberg. A single by Isabella Trakosas gave the Blues the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth.
 
Alexa Aquanno earned the win for Varsity Blues. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking five.
 
Sydney Bacheller led Varsity Blues with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Trakosas went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Varsity Blues in hits.
 
The Blues are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Ottawa to take on the Gee-Gees. Game times are set for 2 and 4 p.m.
