Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team came up short against the visiting Carleton Ravens by a score of 42-12 on Saturday, September 14 at Varsity Stadium.
With this loss the Blues fall to 1-3 on the campaign and the Ravens pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-3.
The Blues opened the scoring on a 23-yard Sam Henke field goal with four minutes to play in the first quarter. The Ravens responded with a touchdown before the end of the frame when quarterback Elijah Barnes found receiver Kaseem Ferdinand in the endzone.
Ferdinand and Barnes teamed up again to open the second quarter on a 16-yard touchdown pass, giving Carleton a two-score lead. The Ravens added on thanks to a 15-yard run by Matthew Morin and a 30-yard field goal by Brandon Forcier.
In the second half, Morin added to Carleton's lead with his second touchdown of the afternoon, finding his way to the endzone from the two-yard line. Carleton's Keyshawn Reid picked up a 107-yard kickoff return touchdown and kicker Forcier added another field goal and a rouge.
Sam Henke added three more field goals, including a career-high 49-yard strike. The Blues kicker was perfect on the afternoon.
Kaleb O'Donoghue recorded 202 passing yards and 17 completions. Elia Lini had a strong defensive performance, recording 7.5 total tackles. Tailback Garrett Ellis ran for 105 net yards, including a 35-yard run in the fourth quarter.
