The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team downed the Nipissing Lakers 87-73 at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House on Saturday (Feb. 3) night.
Toronto celebrated five graduating players this game, Callum Baker, Dane Quest, Tomi Johnson, Somachi Agbapu, and Anthony Daudu.
Throughout the first half, the Blues and the Lakers were neck and neck. However, aided by an 11-point second quarter from Callum Baker, the Blues took a 51-40 lead heading into halftime. Despite a slow start to the second half, the Blues maintained their lead and took the game with a final score of 87-73.
Leading Toronto, Baker shined scoring a game-high 30 points, marking his 800th career point as a Blue. Lenny Weber secured the boards for Toronto, securing a game-high 12 rebounds while adding 16 points.
Darnaz Mabanza led the way for the Lakers, scoring 29 points in his 33 minutes of play.
