The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell to the Carleton Ravens 82-70 on Friday (Feb. 9) in Ottawa.
In a three-way tie for first place in the OUA Central division, Toronto headed to Carleton with something to prove.
The Blues and Ravens battled back and forth through much of the first half. However, it was the Ravens that would pull away, leading 49-43 at the whistle. A physical game, the Ravens gave up 21 fouls, which the Blues capitalized on by scoring 16 of 22 from the stripe. Despite the Blues success from the foul line, the Ravens came with renewed energy in the fourth quarter, securing a 82-70 victory over the Blues.
Fifth-year guard Callum Baker led all players with 30 points while adding three assists and two steals. Fellow guard Nadav Sahar continued to impress in his first year with the Blues. The Humanities major recorded 15 points while shooting 4-for-4 from the free throw line and 7-for-19 from the field. Anthony Daudu was once again the Blues biggest presence on the boards securing nine rebounds.
The Ravens were led by Augustas Brazdeikis who tallied 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
