The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 66-45 to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday (Feb. 17) night in Waterloo, Ont.
After struggling in the first quarter, the Blues picked up the pace in the second, outscoring Waterloo 21-14. First-year guard Raya Hafez scored a team-high eight points in the quarter. In the second half, the Warriors held the momentum starting with a strong third quarter, before the two teams remained even in the fourth. The Warriors would prevail 66-45 after four quarters.
The guards led the way this game, with Ellen Ougrinov and Hafez leading the team in points with 11 and 10 respectively. Ougrinov also picked up four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Hafez recorded three rebounds and one block.
Ghiselle Poblete scored a game-high 17 points for the Warriors, along with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.
