Continuing to add to their undefeated season, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team are back in the National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP) Championship final after a decisive 18-1 semifinal victory versus the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday (Nov. 30) afternoon in Kingston, Ont.
Toronto entered the championship showcase with an unblemished 9-0 conference record, and 11-0 overall record, making them the No. 1 seed overall. With the top seed, the Blues earned a first round playoff bye, sending them automatically into the semifinal round. There they earned a third victory over Ottawa this season, outscoring the Gee-Gees 58-3 across the three contests.
The gold medal match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 1). The Blues will be aiming to earn an 11th straight conference championship banner and 15th in program history, dating back to their first OUA title in the 1988-89 season.
