The University of Toronto Varsity women's basketball team faced a challenging opponent in the Queen's Gaels on Friday (Nov. 22) night, suffering a 70-31 loss in Kingston, Ont.
Second-year forward Jade Diwandja Djemba continued to be a bright spot for the Blues in the tough road outing, shooting an effective 3-for-5 from the field, while adding a successful and-one free throw to tally a team-high seven points. The kinesiology major added four rebounds and a steal in her 15 minutes of action to round out her evening. Second-year Blues guard Raya Hafez and first-year guard Lia Barbieri added six and five points from the starting lineup, respectively. Contributing off the bench, first-year guard Sarah Litrico chipped in with six points in 18 minutes, while third-year forward Alex Jaglall was strong on the boards with seven rebounds, adding five points.
The difference-maker for the Gaels came off the bench as Brooke Hussey registered a game-high 16 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, five steals, and one block. Katrina Renon was also impressive in the paint for Queen's, grabbing 12 rebounds, including five off the offensive glass.
The Blues are right back on the court tomorrow (Nov. 23) as they travel to Oshawa, Ont., challenging the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., with all the action available to stream online at
