BLUES FALL TO LANCERS ON HOME COURT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell in a hard fought 94-78 loss to the Windsor Lancers at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport on Wednesday (Nov. 13) night.

While it was a close start between the two teams with a 29-25 first quarter, the Lancers pushed ahead in the second, limiting U of T to just nine points scored in the frame. Toronto were unable to close the deficit down the stretch. Despite the score, the Blues shot 42.3 percent from the field. Toronto also out-rebounded the Lancers, 51-40.

The Blues had four athletes in double figures; second-year guard Simeon Jeffers with a team-high 14, fourth-year centre Lennart Weber with 12, second-year centre Ryan Rudnick with 11, and third-year forward Nigel Hylton 10. Hylton was also impressive on the glass pulling down seven rebounds, including four on the offensive side of the court.

For the visitors, Yohann Sam led the way with a career-high and game-high 32 points, shooting 72 percent from three. Sam added nine boards, four assists, and two steals to round out his career night.

Up next, the Blues take on the Western Mustangs this Saturday, Nov 16, at Goldring Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., with the game being streamed online at OUA.TV and tickets available to purchase at varsityblues.ca/tickets.
