The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team opened their 2024-25 home schedule with a hard-fought 59-45 loss to the TMU Bold on Friday, November 1 at Goldring Centre.
The Blues and Bold had a back-and-forth battle in the first quarter, with the Bold holding a 17-14 edge through the first ten minutes. Toronto pulled ahead by three points early in the second quarter, but TMU responded with an 16-0 run to pull away as halftime approached, and kept the pressure up in the second half to put their stamp on the outcome.
Jade Diwandja Djemba led the way for the Blues with 11 points while shooting 5-for-7 from the field. Kaylee Williams picked up ten points with Lia Barbieri and Raya Hafez adding nine each. Barbieri and Diwandja cleaned up on the glass with eight rebounds each, and Lucy Xu grabbed seven of her own.
For the Bold, Kaillie Hall tallied a game-high 21 points on the night. Kait Nichols recorded nine rebounds and six steals, and Catrina Garvey dished out six assists.
The Blues will be back in action on Sunday, November 3 at home against the Algoma Thunderbirds. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Goldring Centre, with tickets available at
