Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

BLUES SUFFER NARROW LOSS TO RIDGEBACKS

In a hard-fought battle, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team showed immense resilience despite falling 2-1 to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on October 5, 2024 in Oshawa. The Blues came out determined, matching Ontario Tech stride for stride throughout the match. Even though they didn't get the result they hoped for, the team's effort on both ends of the field stood out.

Ontario Tech struck first with an early penalty goal by Kairo Coore at the 7 minute mark. However, the Varsity Blues quickly regrouped, and in the 24th minute, Toronto's Oliver Barta, assisted by Jacob Prested, found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1. This equalizer showcased Toronto's ability to respond under pressure.

Throughout the match, the Varsity Blues' defense held strong against Ontario Tech's forwards, while goalkeeper Maxwell Campeau came up with two crucial saves. Toronto's attack kept pushing forward, recording 13 shots—8 of which were on target—constantly testing Ontario Tech's defense.

Despite conceding a second goal at the 59th mark, Toronto never backed down. The Blues piled on the pressure in the final minutes, with several dangerous shots from Andrea Schifano, Kingsley Belele, and Niklas Hallam.

Toronto's valiant efforts, especially in the second half, were commendable as they fought tirelessly to turn the game around. Though the result didn't go their way, their persistence and team spirit left no doubt that this team will bounce back stronger in the next match.

Toronto now sits with a 6-3-1 record on the 2024 campaign.

Tomorrow at 3:15 p.m., the Blues look to get back on the win column against Trent University in Peterborough. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m., and the game can be streamed live via oua.tv.
