BLUES COME UP SHORT AGAINST THUNDERBIRDS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell to the Algoma Thunderbirds 74-41 on Sunday (Jan. 28) afternoon, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

The Thunderbirds came out to a strong start, outscoring the Blues 21-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, Toronto cut into Algoma's lead after outscoring the Thunderbirds 21-20 in the quarter (41-28). Algoma's offence picked up once again in the second half, leading to a 74-41 victory for the Thunderbirds.

Leading the Blues, Alex Jaglall scored a team-high nine points, while under the basket, Sabrina Nero secured a game-high of 11 rebounds and five assists. 

For the Thunderbirds, Allison Read recorded a game-high 18 points, along with two assists in her 21 minutes of play.

Up next, the Blues are back at the Goldring Centre to face off against the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday (Feb. 2) night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets for Blues home games are available at varsityblues.ca/tickets, while action is also streamed online at oua.tv.
