Facing the York Lions on Thursday (Sept. 21) night in a single contest, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues baseball team earned their fifth consecutive victory with a 13-2 road win.

The Blues offence was led by second-year athlete Sam Aslanowicz who drove in four RBI on two hits, including a triple, while also picking up a walk and crossing the plate three times himself. Meanwhile, the trio of Owen Taylor, Jakob Cellupica, and Aaron Kerithen each added two RBI apiece for the Blues in the big road victory.

On the mound, U of T utilized a number of pitchers in the five-inning contest with Easton Kirkpatrick making the start. The second-year pitcher from Oakville delivered two scoreless innings, conceding just one hit and one walk, while striking out two. Cameron Martin, Matthew Kanhai, and Matthew Baici appeared in relief, with the latter pair throwing two scoreless innings.

Through this five-game winning streak for Toronto, the Blues have outscored opponents 59-27, earning wins over York, Windsor, and Waterloo.

First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. U of T then gets right back on the field at UTSC to challenge the visiting Ottawa Gee-Gees for a Sunday, Sept. 24 doubleheader with the same first pitch time.
