University of Toronto Varsity Blues swimming alumna Kylie Masse added to her medal collection this past week concluding the 2023 World Aquatics Championships with a bronze medal in the 4x100 medley relay alongside Team Canada teammates Sophie Angus, Maggie Mac Neil, and Summer McIntosh.
"It's been a challenge for me and always coming in on the last day with the relay is tough, but I wanted to do it for the girls and obviously clinching a spot for Paris 2024 was the goal for this meet. To be able to achieve that is a really great motivator and I think we're all looking forward to next year," Masse said.
The medal for Masse ties her with Olympian Penny Oleksiak for the most career world championship long-course medals for a Canadian with nine.
Also competing in the three backstroke distances at the international event, Masse picked up two fourth place results in the 50m and 100m, along with a fifth place finish in the 200m. Rounding out her championships, she also registered a sixth place with her Team Canada teammates in the mixed 4x100 medley relay.

Masse wasn't the only Varsity Blue in attendance at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, as 2023 OUA swimmer of the year Aleksa Gold took to the pool as a member of the Estonian national team, competing in the 200m backstroke and mixed 4x100 medley relay. As well, long-time Varsity Blues coach Linda Keifer was at it again serving as a coach for Team Canada swimmers at the international competition.
