The No. 2 nationally-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team shutout the TMU Bold 3-0 on Saturday (Feb. 4) night at Varsity Arena.
With the win, the Blues sit first in the OUA East division with 62 points and a 20-1-2 record.Â
WHAT HAPPENED: It was the battle of the goalies in the first period as Toronto's Madeline Albert and TMU's Lauren Griffin kept the door shut through the first. Albert made 27 saves through the game for her fifth shutout of the season.Â
The second period was a strong one for the Blues. Fourth-year defencemen Caroline Eagles opened the scoring halfway through the period with a shot from the point. Forward Kaitlyn McKnight doubled the Blues lead on the power play with three minutes left in the period.Â

Defencemen Lauren Omoto would finish off the scoring late in the third period after scoring on the Bold's empty net.Â
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Friday, February 10 when they face off against the Nipissing Lakers in North Bay, Ont. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
