The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's squash team finished second overall at the 2023 OUA championships, February 10-12, in Kingston, Ont.
After going a perfect 3-0 in pool play with dominant 7-0 victories over the Brock Badgers, McMaster Marauders and Waterloo Warriors, Toronto met the host Queen's Gaels in the semifinals and came out on top with a 6-1 victory.
That set up a gold-medal match with the Western Mustangs for the second consecutive year. The Blues put forth a strong effort but eventually fell 6-1 to the Mustangs.
Second-year standout Ali Shalaby was named the OUA most valuable player. Â The economics and data science major from Mississauga, Ont., went a perfect 5-0 in Toronto's No. 1 position over the three-day tournament.
