BLUES FINISH 2023 WITH A COMEBACK WIN AGAINST LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to defeat the York Lions 3-2 (19-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-4) in a five-set thriller on Sunday (Dec. 3) afternoon at the Tait McKenzie Centre.

Outside hitter Julia Murmann and Olivia Zhu led the Blues offence with a game-high 27 points and 23 points, respectively. Murmann, recorded 24 kills, two service aces, one solo block. Meanwhile, Zhu scored her new career-high in points from a career best 20 kills, along with two service aces, and one solo block.

The Blues offence was setup by a duo of setters in Robin Melnick and Jenna Peters. Melnick tallied 30 assists, followed by Peters with 15. Libero Delaney Watson led the team with 18 digs defensively.

The Lions were topped by Brooklyn Parliament who recorded 17 points from 10 kills, six aces and one solo block.
 
The Blues will play host to the TMU Bold in an exhibition match on December 30 at 3 p.m. at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Toronto returns to regular-season action after the holiday break on Thursday, January 4, against the Guelph Gryphons. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The action can be streamed online via OUA.tv.
