WOMEN'S WATER POLO GOING FOR GOLD AFTER SEMIFINAL VICTORY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team picked up a 17-7 NCWP semifinal win over McGill University on Saturday (Nov. 25) night in Ottawa.

The Blues utilized a press and counter throughout the first half, resulting in nine first half goals. In total Toronto had nine different players record a goal through the four quarters of action.

Leading the charge for U of T was second-year attack Sarah August who tallied a team-high four goals. Fellow sophomore attack Devon Lynch finished the night with a hat-trick, while third-year centre forward Julia DeCaire and first-year centre forward Lillian Wheatley each potted a pair of goals. Third-year utility Alexandra Lee, first-year power forward Liana Sheridan, first-year attack Sarah Neal, and first-year utility Josie Andrist each scored individual markers to round out Blues scoring in the semifinal win.

In net, Toronto utilized a trio of third-year goalies with Hana Truchla playing through the first quarter and a half, followed by fellow Averi Doxtator, and then finished by Gabrielle Vas.

The Blues will face off against the Queen's Gaels tomorrow (Nov. 26) afternoon at the Nepean Sportsplex. The gold medal game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
