The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dropped a 66-47 decision to the TMU Bold on Wednesday (Nov. 15) evening at the Goldring Centre Kimel Field House.

After falling behind early, the Blues battled throughout including an effective fourth quarter in which U of T twas able to outscore the Bold 16-11. However TMU's strong interior play, which saw them outrebound Toronto 54-40 and outpace the home side in points in the paint, allowed the visitors to maintain the early gap enroute to the road win.

Leading the Blues on the night was first-year guard Raya Hafez who scored a team-high 15 points. Hafez added one rebound, one steal and two assists in her 30 minutes of play to round out her stat line. Toronto was also buoyed by the play of their bench, outscoring TMU in points off the bench. Leading the charge for the second unit was veteran forward Thuraya Abdul Hamid and Alex Jaglall. Abdul Hamid finished the night with five points, four rebounds, one steal, one assist, and one block, while Jaglall tallied four points and four rebounds.

Battling on the boards, the third-year duo of Sabrina Nero and Gabby Reed each pulled down a team-high of 10 rebounds for the Blues.

The Bold were led by Kaillie Hall as she secured 18 points, one rebound and one assist.Â
