The No. 5 ranked Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 1-0 to the No. 9 Guelph Gryphons on Friday (Nov. 10) night at Varsity Arena.
Toronto and Guelph traded chances throughout the game as both Blues goaltender Erica Fryer and Gryphons netminder Martina Fedel were excellent between the pipes.
The game was scoreless until the dying minutes of the second period when Gryphons forward Jamie Magoffin found herself on a breakaway. Magoffin's goal was the only shot to beat a goalie in the game and the Blues trailed by one after the second.
In the third period, the Blues pushed for offence as Fryer, who made 12 saves in the game, continued to make saves to keep Toronto in the game.
With the goalie pulled Toronto continued to push for a goal but weren't able to find the back of the net before the final buzzer.
The Blues will have a quick turnaround as they are on the road Saturday (Nov. 11) night against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on
