With the help of Jordan Fairlie and Mason Reeves, the Varsity Blues men's hockey team beat the Lakehead Thunderwolves 3-2 on Saturday (Oct. 28) night at Varsity Arena.

It was the Thunderwolves who got themselves on the board first, with a goal from Greg Smith. Lakehead wouldn't hold the lead for long, when Mason Reeves scored his first goal as a Blue to tie up the game two minutes later.Â

In the second period, the Blues came out hungry and got rewarded for their effort. Early in the period, Nick Wong grabbed the rebound of a Cole Purboo shoot to put the Blues up by one. Five minutes later, the Thunderwolves tied up the game with a goal from Colin Van Der Hurk.Â

Reeves added his second of the game late in the third period to secure the victory over the Thunderwolves

In his first start as a Varsity Blue, Jordan Fairlie picked up the win while making an astounding 42 saves through the 60 minutes.Â
