GRIMA SCORES TWICE FOR BLUES ON HOME ICE

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 6-2 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday (Oct. 27) night at Varsity Arena.

In the opening moments of the match, the opposing team secured a 2-0 lead, putting the Blues at a disadvantage from the start.

However, third-year defenceman Nick Grima led the charge in finding a response, bringing the puck down from mid-air before skating around two opposing defenders and delivering a backhand shot into the back of the net. The goal marked the first of the game for the Blues bringing them within one and Grima's first goal of the 2023-24 OUA season.

The intermission break appeared to pull the wind from Toronto's sails though as the Thunderwolves would go on a run of four unanswered goals through the second period, significantly extending their lead over the Blues.

In the third period, the Blues gave one final push to narrow the goal differential. Grima secured his second goal of the match, but it would not be enough as the clock ran out for the home side.

Tomorrow (Oct. 28) night the Blues are right back in action, facing the Thunderwolves in a chance to draw the weekend doubleheader series even. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., with tickets available online at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be streamed online via oua tv.
