The Gaels opened the scoring in the first half when Ian Ferguson scored in the 12
th minute to put Queen's in the lead. But their lead would be cut less than a minute later, when rookie forward Michael Maslanka laid it off for Nino Nikolovski who scored a beautiful goal from just outside the box to tie up the game. For the remainder of the half, defence was the name of the game as both teams traded chances but were unable to get past either teams backline or goalkeepers.
Maslanka and Nikolovski connected again early in the second half, when Maslanka tapped it towards Nikolovski who, once again, scored from outside the box to put the Blues in the lead. Later in the half, Maslanka added a goal of his own in the 64
th minute to extend the Blues lead to two.
Blues goalie Alex Lin made two saves in the win for Toronto.
