Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

NO. 3 BLUES FALL SHORT TO BROCK

The No. 3 nationally ranked Varsity Blues women's hockey team lost 3-1 to the Brock Badgers on Saturday (Oct. 21) night at Varsity Arena.

Brock got off to a hot start in the game, opening the scoring in the first five minutes after fourth-year defender Madelyn Walsh's shot made its way through traffic. The Blues kept fighting but Badgers goaltender Kenzie Harmison turned away the Blues chances. In the final five minutes of the opening frame, Walsh struck again this time on the power play to extend the lead.

The Blues kept pushing for offence as the game went and first-year goalie Carlee Vance came up with big saves to keep Toronto in the game. The Blues finally broke through late in the third period when fifth-year defender Caroline Eagles pounced on a loose puck to cut the lead in half.

The Blues continued to push but Brock defender Allison Moore added an empty net goal to preserve Brock's lead before the final buzzer.

The Blues season continues on Thursday (Oct. 26) night at Varsity Arena against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tickets are available here and the game will be streamed live on oua.tv.
