The University of Toronto Varsity Blues beat the Laurentian Voyageurs 3-1 on Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon in Sudbury, Ontario.
With the win, the Blues find themselves tied with the TMU Bold in third place in the OUA East division.
Defense was the name of the game in the first half, with both teams being held scoreless by Blues goalie Maxwell Campeau and Voyageurs goalie Lucas Cidade. Campeau finished the match with three saves.
Shortly into the second half, Andrea Schifano opened the scoring for the Blues, scoring his fifth goal of the season in the 50
th minute to put the Blues in the lead. With 15 minutes to play, forward Alex Dimitriu doubles the Blues lead. Minutes later, Nicholas Patenaude cut into the Blues lead scoring Laurentian's lone goal for the day.
Closing up the game, in the 86
th minute, the Voyageurs scored an own goal.
