The Blues men's hockey team hold off the TMU Bold in the third period in a 3-2 win on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
With the win, the Blues sit fifth in the OUA West division with 26 points and a 12-9-2 record.Â
WHAT HAPPENED:Â The Blues started the game on the right foot with second-year forward Billy Moskal scoring on a shorthanded breakaway four minutes into the period. The Bold would answer back with a goal of their own two minutes later from forward Jacob Kamps. After a back-and-forth rest of the period, third-year forward Ross Krieger scored a bar down power play goal with five seconds to go.Â

In the second, U of T would score right away with fourth-year forward Owen Guy scoring a minute in, after a give-and-go play with Cole Purboo. The rest of the period would remain scoreless with Blues goalie Jett Alexander and Bold goalie Kai Edmonds making key saves for both teams. Alexander finished the game with 32 saves through the 60 minutes.Â
TMU kept the game close early in the third period after Connor Bowie scored a minute in to cut the Blues lead in half.
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, February 3 when they face off against the Brock Badgers at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
