BLUES SPLIT SERIES AGAINST GAELS

The Varsity Blues softball team split their series against the Queen's Gaels with a 5-0 win and 6-2 loss on Saturday, September 10 at Dieppe Park. 
 
The Blues open their 2022 OIWFA season with a 1-1 record.

Katie Humhej had all the right stuff on Saturday for Varsity Blues Softball, allowing zero runs and besting Queen's University Gaels Fastpitch by a score of 5-0.
 
Humhej took the win the Blues. She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out ten and walking one.
 
Beth DeConinck went 4-for-4 at the plate.  The fourth-year shortstop singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the sixth.
 
Lauren Kennedy took the loss for Queen's University Gaels Fastpitch. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing five hits and three runs.

Varsity Blues Softball watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-2 loss to Queen's University Gaels Fastpitch on Saturday.  Queen's University Gaels Fastpitch scored on a single by Sara Salvucci, a single by Taryn Millar, and a groundout by Erika Degabriele in the second inning. 
 
Abby Jacklin was the winning pitcher for Queen's University Gaels Fastpitch. The righty went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one.
 
Erin Sullivan took the loss for the Blues. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out one and walking one.
 
Amelia Collet led Varsity Blues Softball with two hits in three at bats.
 
UP NEXT: The Blues next play on Saturday, September 17 against Western in London, Ont. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
