Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

BLUES DOUBLE UP BADGERS

The Toronto Varsity Blues got their fourth win in a row as they defeated the Brock Badgers 4-2 on Tuesday night (Mar. 8). The Blues received a special surprise before the game as they celebrated the graduation of former Blue David Thomson who signed a contract with the Wichita Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League in January.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues and Badgers played a deadlocked first ten minutes of the initial period. Toronto would get on the scoreboard first as Cole Purboo was able to work the puck around the net before finding an open Billy Moskal for the tap-in goal with 6:12 left. Three and a half minutes later, the Badgers would tie up the contest off of a Jared Marino snapshot.

Midway through the second period, Owen Robinson would carry the puck through the neutral zone before putting a shot in the top corner past Brock goalie Mario Peccia. Before the horn sounded, the Badgers were able to tie it up once again as rookie Jacob Roach put away an easy rebound for the score.

The Blues continued forechecking paid dividends in the third as Peyton Reeves made no mistake on the one-timer, giving Toronto the 3-2 lead. Toronto would add an empty net goal late in the third as Kyle Potts would score his 13th of the season.

Rookie Cole Purboo contributed two assists in the victory, while third-year goalie Alex Bishop made 21 saves.

UP NEXT: The Blues will honour their graduating players on Senior Night this Saturday (Mar. 12) as they take on the Brock Badgers in their last regular season game. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
