Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

BLUES BLANK LIONS IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON ROAD GAME

Putting forth a full sixty-minute effort, the Toronto Varsity Blues picked up a 4-0 victory at Canlan Ice Sports over the York Lions on March 5 to wrap up the road portion of their 2021-22 regular season schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Establishing momentum early in the game, the Blues did a good job of controlling the puck and much of the early play. Then midway through the period, Toronto jumped out in front on the 11th goal of the season for Kyle Potts.

For the Oakville, Ont., product, it took him just over 16 minutes to score his 12th goal of the season. Finding the back of the net 7:14 into the middle period, Potts gave the Blues a 2-0 lead which they would carry over into the third.

Quickly taking control of the contest early in the third period, Billy Moskal hammered home a one-timer to put the Blues up by three. Then approaching the midway point of the frame, the Blues added a bit more insurance on a goal from Ross Krieger.

Turning aside all 24 shots that York directed at him, Blues goaltender Alex Bishop recorded his first shut-out of the season and the fifth of his OUA career.

On the power-play, Toronto went 0 for 4 with the Lions going 0 for 2.

UP NEXT: Toronto will now return to Varsity Arena for their final two games of the regular season. The Blues will host the Brock Badgers on March 8 at 7:30 p.m., before hosting Brock once again on March 11.
