OUGRINOV, BOERS TIE SEASON-HIGH IN LAST HOME GAME

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell, 82-79 to the York Lions on Friday, March 11 at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.

With the loss, the Blues fell to eighth place in the OUA East Division, with a 2-12 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Third-year guard Ellen Ougrinov and second-year guard Lauren Boers tied a Blues season-high 24-points in the loss. Ougrinov matched her career-high in points, while also securing six rebounds and four assists. Boers tallied a new career-high in points and had four rebounds and two assists.

In her their last home game with the Blues, two veteran players had standout performances. Fourth-year guard Christine Jurcau recorded a season-high 11-points and led the Blues with five assists, while fellow fourth-year Jessica Muha led the team with 11-rebounds.

The Blues started strong leading the Lions in the first-quarter 25-23. By the half, the Lions had battled back to lead the Blues 52-40. Although the Blues shrank their lead in the third (65-59), York would hold on to see out the Blues 82-79.

The Lions were lead by first-year guard, Kiara Leveridge. Leveridge recorded 18-points, five rebounds and one steal.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action this Saturday, March 12 in their last game of the 2021-22 season in a rematch vs. the York Lions. The game will be played at York University and tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
