BLUES SCORE SECOND STRAIGHT VICTORY OVER RAMS

The No. 1 Varsity Blues picked up another win on Saturday, February 12. Paying the Rams a visit, the Blues held their opponent off the scoresheet for a second straight game en route to a 4-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Throughout the first period, both teams held strong in their own defensive zone. With only 12 shots combined between the two teams in the opening frame, neither side was able to find the back of the net.

With the score still deadlocked at zero midway through the second period, Toronto was able to break through first. After Nikki McDonald was tripped up while home-free on a breakaway, Celine Frappier caught up to the puck and drove in on a breakaway of her own. The forward from Tecumseh, Ont., then made no mistake firing the puck over the blocker of Rams goalie Rachel Seeley. Just over two minutes later, the Blues struck again. Moving the puck around in the offensive zone, Olivia Hilton ultimately had the puck settle on her stick and she wired it top-shelf to put the Blues up by two after two.

Making sure to secure their second straight victory over the Rams to start the 2021-22 season resumption, the Blues tacked on two more goals in the final frame. Laura Ellis extended the lead to 3-0 with a deflection goal, before Hilton scored her second of the contest.

Third-year goalie Erica Fryer made 13 saves as she recorded her second shut-out in as many games.

UP NEXT: The Blues will return home on Tuesday, February 15 to play host to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
