Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

BLUES OFFENCE CONTINUES TO ROLL IN SECOND STRAIGHT WIN OVER THUNDERWOLVES

After scoring nine goals the previous night, the Varsity Blues offence continued to roll Saturday, February 12 at home against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Scoring the first five goals of the contest, the Blues went on to take down the Thunderwolves 8-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Picking up right where they left off, the Varsity Blues came out on fire. It took only 42 seconds for Toronto to break the deadlock as Kyle Potts tipped home a Brendan Bornstein point-shot. At the 7:45 mark of the opening period, the Blues doubled their lead with a wrist-shot from the slot by Ross Krieger. Toronto would go on to tack on one more goal before the period expired when Potts finished off a beautiful passing play for his second of the evening.

Beginning the middle frame just like they did the first, the Blues wasted no time finding the back of the net. Scoring just one minute and 13 seconds into the period, Peyton Reeves put Toronto up by four. Less than four minutes later, it was Kyle Potts completing the hat-trick by deflecting Emmett Serensits' shot past Lakehead goalie Brock Aiken. Approaching the halfway point of the frame, Tyler Ho would put the Thunderwolves on the board.

In the third, the Blues continued to cause havoc in the Lakehead zone. Getting goals from both Steven Elliott and Ben Woodhouse, Toronto was able to build their lead as big as 7-1. Lakehead would get one back after that though on Ho's second of the game. It would be Toronto rounding out the scoring late in the third with a second goal from Reeves.

In goal, Alex Bishop turned aside 20 of the 22 shots he faced.

On the power-play, the Blues finished 2 for 4 with the Thunderwolves going 1 for 6.

UP NEXT: The Blues will now have a few days off before visiting the York Lions on Friday, February 18. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
