BLUES SEAL SEASON SWEEP OVER RIDGEBACKS

The Varsity Blues women's hockey team won 1-0 against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday, December 3 in Oshawa, Ont.

With the win, the Blues move back into first place in the OUA East division with a 11-2 record and 33 points. The Blues also hold a game in hand over the second-place Nipissing Lakers.

WHAT HAPPENED:  Despite dominating the first period offensively, the Blues would have to wait until the second period for their first goal. Following key passes between second-year standouts Ali McKeown and Abby Holland, first-year forward Isabella Greco buried her opportunity to put the Blues up 1-0.

A strong defensive showing from the Blues ensured they would their 1-0 lead through the remainder of play.

Fifth-year goaltender Madeline Albert faced 23 shots in the contest, saving all 23 of them.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Friday, January 6 when they face off against the York Lions at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
