The Varsity Blues women's hockey team won 4-0 against the Windsor Lancers on Friday (Dec. 2) night at Varsity Arena.
The Blues now hold an 10-2 record on the season, and sit first in the OUA east division with 30 points.
WHAT HAPPENED: The Blues came out strong in the first period, taking the lead five minutes into the game on a Natasha Athanasakos power play goal, with the help of Francesca Monte and Sophie Grawbarger. Second-year forward Nikki McDonald would grab the rebound off Emma Potter's shot to double the Blues lead with four minutes to go.
Second-year forward Katy McKenna would score the Blues third power play goal of the night to extend the Blues lead to three halfway through the second period.
McDonald would finish the scoring for the Blues with her second of the game, putting the puck into an empty net.
Blues goalie Erica Fryer made 16 saves through the 60 minutes, grabbing her second shutout of the season.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Saturday, December 3 when they faceoff against Ontario Tech. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
