The Varsity Blues men's hockey team won 3-0 against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday (Nov. 5) night at Varsity Arena.
With the win, they stay seventh in the OUA West standings with a 3-4-1 record.
WHAT HAPPENED: The Blues came out flying in the first period, out-shooting the Warriors 12-2 halfway through. Third-year defencemen Connor Matton capitalized on a screened Warriors goalie to open the scoring in the game six minutes in.
Fourth-year forward Owen Guy doubled the Blues lead four minutes into the second period, after going end-to-end, dangling through multiple Warriors players. With the help of Owen Guy and Nick Grima, second-year forward Billy Moskal extended the Blues lead to three at the 11-minute mark.
The Blues defence was a focal point through the first two periods, holding the Warriors to 12 shots.
Blues goalie Jett Alexander made 10 saves in the third period to lead his team to a shutout, his second of the season.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, November 11 when they faceoff against York University. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m.
