BLUES DOMINATE THE YORK LIONS 5-1

Box Score The Varsity Blues men's hockey defeated the York Lions, 5-1, on Remembrance Day.
 
With the win, the Blues improve their record to 4-4-1, holding their sixth-place position in the OUA West division.
 
WHAT HAPPENED: The Blues started strong with second-year forward, Ben Woodhouse scoring five minutes into the first. First-year forward Zach Smith buried a Steven Elliott rebound to extend the Blues lead to two less than a minute later.
 
 
Smith continued to dominate for the Blues, opening the second period scoring in the 10th minute of play. However, the Lions would answer back just two minutes later.
 
To finish off the game for the Blues, second-year forward Owen Robinson buried an empty net opportunity to seal the 4-1 win.
 
 
Second-year goaltender Jett Alexander was between the pipes for the Blues. The Bloomfield, Ont. native saved 16 of the 17 shots he faced.
 
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Saturday, November 12, when they faceoff against the Guelph Gryphons at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m.
