The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 72-69 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday (Nov. 12) night at Goldring Centre.

With the loss, the Blues now hold a 2-2 record, sitting second in the OUA central division.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Â A back and forth first half would see the Golden Hawks take the lead at the end of the first (16-15), but would see both teams tied at 29 heading into halftime. Laurier would take an eight-point lead after three quarters (55-47). Despite outscoring the Golden Hawks 22-17 in the fourth quarter, Laurier would finish the game with the win (72-69).
Fourth-year guard Ellen Ougrinov led the way for the Blues against the Golden Hawks, scoring 16 points, along with three assists and two rebounds. Just behind her, guard Lauren Boers put up 15 points, along with two assists.Â

The Golden Hawks were led by Cassidy Hirtle who put up a game high 23 points, while shooting 8-for-14 from the field.Â
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues return to action Wednesday, November 16 when they face off against the York Lions. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
