Emily Ziraldo's two goals helped the Varsity Blues field hockey team to a 3-1 win over the No. 4 York Lions on Wednesday (Oct. 5) night at Alumni Field.

With the win, the No. 1 Blues now hold a 5-0-1 record this season, while sitting in second place in the OUA East division. The Blues have now won five game in a row.

The Blues opened the scoring early in the second quarter when third-year forward Sam McCrory scored (18
th minute). The York Lions would tie the game seven minutes later with a goal from Mackenzie Gee.Â

The game would not stay even for long, with the Blues scoring in the 28
th minute with a goal from Emily Ziraldo. Ziraldo would get her second goal of the game late in the third quarter in the 42
nd minute.Â

Second-year midfielder McKinley Kennedy finished the game with an assist, on Ziraldo's first goal. Â

The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, October 9 when they faceoff against the Queen's Gaels at in Kingston, Ont.Â
